WENGER WIL GIVE JACK A NEW CHANCE

- BY JOHN CROSS EXCLUSIVE BY JOHN CROSS

SIR GEOFF HURST believes it is time for Gareth Southgate to bring an end to Wayne Rooney’s England career.

ARSENE WENGER is ready to throw Jack Wilshere an Arsenal lifeline after a heart-to-heart talk.

The Gunners boss held discussions with the midfielder, 25, over the past few days and urged him to stay and fight for his place. And it is believed that Wilshere’s red card in the Arsenal Under-23s’ win over Manchester City will not have any bearing on his future at the club.

Wilshere (right) lost his temper after a bad challenge by midfielder Matthew Smith and then squared up to his City team-mate Tyreke Wilson.

Writing on social media, Wilshere said: “Felt good to be back on Emirates pitch even though it ended earlier than I thought. My passion and hunger is back. Buzzing for more games.”
