Evans set for £30m City move

IF there was any pressure here, then it came only in the pumping heart Jurgen Klopp thumped repeatedly in front of the Kop at the end of this incredible game.

JONNY EVANS expects to complete a £30million switch to Manchester City next week.

City are poised to return with another offer for the West Brom stopper after having an £18m bid rejected.

Boss Pep Guardiola has spent over £200m this summer, including £130m on full-backs Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo. Now he is determined to land the former Manchester United centre-back ahead of next Thursday’s deadline.

Evans, 29, is yet to play this season for Tony Pulis’ Albion after failing to sign a new contract. But he has been included in Northern Ireland’s squad for World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Czech Republic.

Albion tied down defender Craig Dawson on a new three-year contract.

They want Spurs’ Kevin Wimmer and maintain a strong interest in Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.

Pulis aims to sign Wimmer and Spurs’ teammate Vincent Janssen in a £30m joint deal. But Nacer Chadli could go if Albion’s £25m valuation is met with Swansea leading the chase.
