Families living it on Beeb’s Button

The first game show based entirely in ordinary people’s living rooms is to make its debut on BBC One.

In The Button five families compete to win cash prizes. A button is placed inside their homes – when it flashes, they must press it and complete the challenge it sets as quickly as possible.

The type of activity includes wrapping each other in toilet roll and filling their front rooms with inflatables.

The winners get £10,000, which they can keep or gamble to double their money the following week. If they lose they walk away empty-handed.

BBC entertainment boss Kate Phillips said the pilot had her shouting at the telly. She added: “It’s a funny, frantic romp and a great snapshot of family life.” The eight-part series airs next year.
