£20k Roses War love gift
A LOVE token given by a victim of the Wars of the Roses has sold for £20,000.
Baron William Hastings gave wife Katherine the gold, heart-shaped brooch engraved Honour and Joy.
A metal detectorist found it last year near the moat of the castle he built at Kirby Muxloe, Leics.
Auctioneer Charles Hanson said: “It has to be one of the most romantic brooches in the world.”
Richard III had Baron Hastings beheaded for treason in 1483.
