Everything is controlled through the smartphone app – from selecting the car to unlocking the door and starting the engine.

Drivers are covered by insurance from AXA and roadside assistance from the AA, and if the car is stolen, the engine can be remotely disabled and the doors locked once the vehicle has come to a safe stop, rendering it useless to the thief.

HiyaCar is currently only available to motorists in London, but the company plans to expand a across other UK cities during the n next 12 months.
