Broker Simply Business based the claim on a surge in high street bread makers getting insurance quotes – from nearly 400 in 2012 to more than 6,300 in 2016.

It coincides with the storming success of Bake Off, which starts a new series on Channel 4 next Tuesday after being poached from the BBC.
