I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Len Goodman’s Partners in Rhyme on BBC1. Contestants guessing rhymes from pictures and mimes with the help of celebrity guests didn’t sound up to much, but the format works very well. As host, Len has plenty of opportunity to demonstrate the jovial personality which made him so popular on Strictly. This is good old-fashioned fun – the late, great Bruce Forsyth would have approved. Nancie Rutherford, Sevenoaks, Kent Channel 4’s Child Genius was brilliant and Richard Osman was a superb as host. The competitive challenges which the youngsters were set were mindboggling and I never thought spelling and questions on advanced language would be so interesting.
