James Cameron directed this sequel to his breakthrough 1986 original and after steering 1997’s Titanic to Oscar glory, pioneered the current wave of 3D with his sci-fi epic Avatar in 2009.
The highest-grossing film of the year won four Oscars, including, of course, the visual effects gong.
Cameron’s third wife Linda Hamilton is impressive as Sarah Connor, who is trying to save her 10-year-old son so he can become the leader of the resistance in the war against the machines.
