GUNNERS READY TO LET OX LEAVE

- EXCLUSIVE BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL face the prospect of having to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the end of the transfer window.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made a final offer to the 24-year-old England winger worth £180,000 a week.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to turn it down and Arsenal will then move to offload him, rather than let the star go for free next summer.

Chelsea lead the chase – and appear in pole position ready to make a £35million offer – to get him before the window shuts next Thursday.

But Liverpool remain interested, with it likely to become a bidding war between the two Premier League giants. The Gunners face Liverpool on Sunday and it remains to be seen whether Wenger will pick him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain (right) has previously made it clear he will not re-sign as it is not about the money, but wanting to develop his career, particularly with the Three Lions in mind.

Arsenal have gone all out to keep him but it still might not be enough and they face losing the player they signed from Southampton for £15m in 2011.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a regular for club and country and, despite injuries, has enjoyed an impressive 2017.

However, the north Londoners have left it late to start negotiations with the star in earnest and allowed Oxlade-Chamberlain to go into the final year of his contract.

They do not want to lose him, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for free, as all three are out of contract next summer.

However, while they may sell Oxlade-Chamberlain, the club stance remains strong on Sanchez and they will resist any late bids, with Manchester City expected to come in before the window shuts.

But Wenger is reluctant to let three big players potentially leave for free and it would appear Oxlade-Chamberlain will be the one sold.
