Author killer hit by £98k court costs
MURDERER Ian Stewart has been ordered to pay £98,455 prosecution costs.
Stewart, 56, who is serving a life sentence after killing author Helen Bailey, did not appear in court for medical reasons.
The hearing proceeded in his absence and Stewart was given 14 days to pay up or challenge the order.
Prosecutor Stuart Trimmer told St Albans crown court: “He has a number of bank accounts which will cover that.”
Stewart sedated his fiancee with sleeping pills before suffocating her and dumping her body in a cesspit under a garage at their £1.5million home in Royston, Herts.
He was found guilty of her murder in February and branded a “real danger to women” by a judge.
