Hidden cam lands fly-tip crook in jail
A WASTE disposal boss filmed fly-tipping in a residential street has been jailed for 30 months.
Andrew Smithson, 31, illegally dumped junk for three years while claiming to run a reputable business, a court heard.
A hidden CCTV camera caught him offloading waste including two sofas and crockery at Perry Bar, Birmingham, in July 2015.
Smithson, of Perry Barr admitted nine offences at the city’s crown court. He was also banned from driving for 51 months.
Accomplice Joel Ducille, 26, also of Perry Bar, admitted four offences and get a 10-month sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Tony Quigley, of the city council, said the pair had “no respect for their local environment”.
