Met defends crackdown at Carnival
THE policeman in charge of the Notting Hill Carnival hit back at rapper Stormzy’s claim that Scotland Yard targets “black events”, saying: “I can’t remember a single murder at Glastonbury.”
Commander Dave Musker said he remained “unapologetic” over Carnival security, adding: “Last year we had 70 to 80 stabbings, four of them people who nearly lost their lives. My officers saved those people.”
Stormzy had said: “How many drugs did you lot seize in the run up to Glastonbury or we only doing this for black events?”
Police made 656 arrests as part of a crackdown in the build-up to Carnival, which has unprecedented security amid fears of terrorism and acid attacks.
