Pill reminder with Amazon voice gadget
PENSIONERS in social care are to get voiceactivated gadgets to remind them when to take their medication.
Amazon Echo smart devices are to be handed to 50 people. They will also be set to tell them when a carer is due to arrive.
Hampshire council is the first local authority to test the £150 speakers in this way. The technology can use sensors to remind people to drink. It also helps to keep them fit.
Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire’s executive member for adult social care, said: “We are very excited about the possibilities this project could open … to benefit the future of social care.”
The council is working with Argenti Telehealthcare and Amazon.
