1999: Ruud Gullit resigned as Newcastle manager after a year.

2004: Jason Gardener, Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis won gold for Great Britain in the Olympic men’s 4x100m relay in Athens.

2006: Roy Keane signed as Sunderland manager. He took them from being bottom of the Championsh­ip to winning the title.
