Obesity alert as 1 in 3 kids snack badly
NEARLY a third of parents still give their children unhealthy snacks, increasing their risk of obesity, charities have warned.
Though 46% of parents worry about calorie-heavy nibbles, 27% never pick products low in fat or sugar, a survey found.
Though 17% found them too pricey, 15% told the National Charity Partnership it was because they did not taste as good.
A third regularly gave crisps or biscuits with or between meals, found the NCP, which is made up of Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation and Tesco.
The NCP said: “By developing unhealthy habits you may be risking your family’s health.” It wants parents to set healthy goals using its online Eight-Week Challenge.
