Unhinged Trump must be removed

-

WHAT a farce Trump’s presidency has descended into. In fact, it would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

His revolving door of appointees, his inflammatory rhetoric over North Korea and his insensitivity about racial tensions in the aftermath of the Charlottesville neo-Nazi rally are further evidence of his inability to lead the most powerful country in the world.

Surely it is time for America to seriously consider this man’s fitness for office. He is a disgrace to his country and a threat to the whole world – and should be removed from power as soon as possible. Alan Arthur, Stockport

# Reading about Trump I am uneasily reminded of the character Greg Stillson in Stephen King’s 1979 novel The Dead Zone. In the book, hero John Smith awakes from a five-year coma with psychic powers and when he shakes Stillson’s hand at a political rally he has a vision of him as a megalomaniac president ordering a preemptive nuclear attack, and sets about stopping it happening. Let’s all hope that truth does not prove to be stranger than fiction. And that Congress swiftly starts seriously considering Trump’s mental fitness for office and uses the 25th Amendment to remove him. Janet Kiff Coulsdon, Surrey

# Donald Trump’s administration is in meltdown. Just look at how many of his senior officials have come and gone since January.

And now Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has distanced himself from the President’s response to the violence at the white supremacist march in Charlottesville in which he said both sides were to blame.

My feeling is that Trump won’t last the year before he resigns or is forced out by members of his own party. We live in hope. Geoff Tate, via email

# I am totally amazed that there are people who actually still believe this lunatic president?

Seriously, he is behaving like a paranoid dictator. He is like the famous Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, plotting to destroy the world. Colin Davies, Liverpool

# Donald Trump might have had great success in the business arena, but he is proving to be a dud president.

His incoherent ramblings might please his right-wing supporters, but to everyone else he appears unhinged.

Trump seems unable to comprehend that he can’t run a country by tweeting at 4am. For goodness sake, America, get rid of him. David Hammond, Brighton

# I would like to report a missing person. After Trump’s latest series of debacles, I am wondering whatever happened to Nigel Farage? I’d love to hear his thoughts on how his close friend Donald is doing. Michael Connor Gateshead

# With regard to President Trump, I believe it was 18th century English writer Samuel Johnson who said: “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Need I say more? J C Bunting Newark, Notts
