Barca drop a Cou clue
BARCELONA vowed to carry on spending after parading £135.5million signing Ousmane Dembele at the Nou Camp – a worry for Liverpool fans who fear losing Philippe Coutinho.
Around 17,000 supporters last night attended Barca’s official unveiling ceremony for the France winger, 20, who sealed his big-money switch from Borussia Dortmund.
The fee agreed between the two clubs – an initial £96.8m with add-ons potentially taking it to £135.5m – makes Dembele the second-most expensive player in history after Neymar, who moved from Barca to Paris SaintGermain this month.
And he may not be the last signing this week by Barcelona, heavily linked with Coutinho.
Technical director Robert Fernandez said: “We hope to get another player or two before the month’s end.
“I won’t go into names, but the club is working on the possibility of signing new players.”
