‘Hormone jab aids memory’
A DAILY jab of a bone hormone could one day reverse memory loss for millions of older people.
Boosting levels of osteocalcin, a hormone produced by bone cells that reduces as we age, worked on tests in mice.
Study leader Dr Gerard Karsenty, of Columbia University, US, said: “Could memory loss be reversed by restoring this hormone back to youthful levels?
“The answer, at least in mice, is yes.” The study was published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
