Julie’s toast of town

CORONATION Street legend Julie Goodyear is being given the freedom of her home town.

The actress, who played Rovers Return landlady Bet Gilroy, will be honoured in a ceremony at Rochdale in Greater Manchester later this year.

Julie, 75, said yesterday: “I am honoured, delighted and thrilled.”

Borough council leader Richard Farnell said: “She will be treated like the star that she is.” HOME Rochdale
