Keita is a Reds fan
LIVERPOOL’S new signing Naby Keita will be a longdistance fan until he joins the club next summer.
The Guinea midfielder has been signed by Jurgen Klopp from RB Leipzig a year before he will join – to ward off rivals.
He will cost £69million if the German side qualify for the Champions League this season, but only £60m if they do not reach Europe.
His release clause next summer was £48m, but the Reds expected an auction and paid a premium early.
Keita, 22, said: “Until I join my new club next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance.
“I am delighted that an agreement has been reached which will allow me to join Liverpool next summer, when I will become part of a project that excites me greatly.
“Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve things this season.
“My commitment is absolute for the remainder of my time at the club.”
