DEFOE FACES HIS OWN DESSERT STORM

JERMAIN DEFOE has had to accept being branded boring by his girlfriend in order to prolong his career.

Veteran Defoe has stopped eating out and banished dessert in a bid to make the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.

“You have a day when you just want to eat sweets or go to the cinema and have popcorn but it is a sacrifice you have to make,” said the Bournemouth striker (left).

“My girlfriend says I am boring because I always eat the same things. She says, ‘Why don’t you mix it up?’ but if it works you just continue doing it. No more desserts now. You get tempted but you’ve got to be disciplined.”
