SWEAR GRYLLS
65 curses on Chief Scout’s show
VIEWERS have been shocked at the bad language on Bear Grylls’ new show, with 65 swearwords in 44 minutes.
Stars including swimmer Sharron Davies, runner Iwan Thomas and TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh are battling to survive for four weeks on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
But after the flurry of f-words on the Channel 4 show – presented by the UK’s Chief Scout – viewer Daryl Coombs said: “The language is atrocious.”
Lee Allen added: “My son loves Bear Grylls but can’t watch this.”
In Tuesday’s second series opener, celebs left on the Pacific island with just basic tools and medical supplies were stung by bees, plagued by termites and struggled for water.
A TV source said: “Those who watched Bake Off would have had a shock if they stayed tuned.
“Jumped-up celebs effing and blinding. It was after 9pm but the language was a bit relentless.”
But Channel 4 said the show was “appropriately scheduled”, preceded by a strong language warning and “reflects the experiences of those on The Island”. Also in the cast are Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte, Corrie’s Ryan Thomas and comics Shazia Mirza and Mark Watson.
CHIEF Scout Bear Grylls would be kicked out of a local pack for the sort of swearing heard on his TV show.
We urge him to tie a knot in it – or introduce a badge for talking without foul language.
