Fred Baur

As the man who invented the Pringles carton in 1966, Baur was so proud of his creation he wanted his ashes to be buried in one.

When he died in 2008, aged 89, Baur’s family honoured his final request. His eldest son Larry said they stopped on the way to the funeral home in Springfield, Ohio, to buy a can. He added: “My siblings and I briefly debated what flavour to use. But I said, ‘Look, we need to use the original’.”
