Giggling gas ‘still illegal’

-

SELLERS of “laughing gas” will still be prosecuted despite the collapse of two cases brought under new laws banning “legal highs,” the Government says.

Nitrous oxide is a recreational drug but also a pain reliever.

Judge Paul Garlick, trying two people at Taunton crown court, said the gas was “plainly capable of coming within the definition of an exempted substance”.

A second prosecution for supplying the gas failed at Southwark crown court.
