More strikes on railways

RAIL walkouts take place today and Monday in the row over driver-only trains.

RMT union’s Merseyrail, Southern and Arriva Rail North members will strike.

Merseyrail, whose staff will also strike Sunday, said a reduced service will run.

ARN aims for more than 900 services on strike days. Southern plans a normal service on most routes.

South Western Railway, facing a staff strike ballot, said: “We made it perfectly clear we plan to retain a second person on services.”
