PRINCE Harry invited girlfriend Meghan Markle to join the royals as they remembered Diana in private yesterday.

The actress’s presence on the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death increased speculation that an engagement is imminent.

Fans thronged to Kensington Palace as Harry and Wills stayed out of the public eye. Flowers were piled high at the Palace gates as supporters, some in tears, paid respects.

Fan Kathy Martin said: “She was a beautiful young princess that should never have left this world, and I’m so sad that she’s gone. I do this to keep her memory alive.”

Meghan, 36, is staying at Nottingham Cottage, Harry’s home in the Palace grounds, after the couple’s romantic three-week holiday in Botswana and Zambia.

The couple, who have been together for a year, are said to be “incredibly serious” about each other.

William, Kate, George and Charlotte have moved into Kensington Palace’s Apartment 1a ahead of George starting school in Battersea next week.
