GUNNERS SHAMBLES
Aaron Ramsey took a swipe at the club for allowing Alex OxladeChamberlain – “another of our British boys” – to join Liverpool.
Ramsey wrote “shambles” in a post, later insisting it was a personal joke rather than a dig at Arsenal.
One tweet read: “Not only have we lost a great player we’ve lost a great guy in the changing-room and it’s sad to see you go mate.” The Gunners were involved in a frantic round of talks which saw a £90m bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, who scored twice for France in last night’s 4-0 win over Holland (left).
Lemar was unconvinced and with time short they also tried for Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler – only to be knocked back.
Arsenal then told City the Sanchez deal was off as it was too late for them to find a top-class replacement.
