Royal seal of approval for Mo track exit

- BY NICOLA METHVEN TV Editor

SIR Mo Farah has revealed the Queen backed his exit from track racing as he had “done too much running”.

The 34-year-old world champ, who retired this summer, said of meeting Her Majesty: “Prince Harry was there. He’s always up for a laugh and I remember Harry saying to the Queen, ‘He’s stopping running’.

“She goes, ‘Why are you stopping?’ And I’m like, ‘I’ve done enough on the track’. And she was like, ‘Leave him, he has done far too much running’.”

Mo, who is moving back to the UK from the US, will now focus on marathons.

But talking to Jonathan Ross on ITV, he said he had ditched plans to use his full name Mohamed to mark the switch, adding: “Everybody knows me as Mo.”
