I’LL BEST THE BEAST

Luke plans revenge celebration on Wycombe pal Bayo

- EXCLUSIVE BY IAN BAKER

FALL GUY Luke O’Nien is desperate to get Wycombe pal Adebayo Akinfenwa back – but has not got a clue where to start.

The Chairboys midfielder has been on the receiving end of some outrageous celebrations from the 16-stone ‘Beast’ this season.

First, Akinfenwa dropped wrestling move ‘The People’s Elbow’ on O’Nien after scoring at Port Vale. And then the veteran striker copied Floyd Mayweather by pretending to punch his team-mate after netting at Grimsby last week.

Now O’Nien, 22, has his thinking cap on to finally floor the popular Akinfenwa.

He said: “The celebrations were very entertaining for a lot of people and I find them quite funny looking back.

“They were not exactly planned. The one at Port Vale, I don’t know what happened.

“When we scored I stayed on the floor and then thought, ‘What have I done?’. The one at Grimsby was not really thought about. Everyone was talking about Mayweather v McGregor and I mentioned it to Bayo. We knew he’d score and when he did, he called my name and we went from there.

“I will have to start thinking about how to get Bayo back. I’m open to any suggestions.

“But getting Bayo on the floor might be a difficult challenge so I will have to be a bit more creative.”

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth is not laughing at his side’s reputation as great entertainers this term. The Chairboys have already scored 10 and conceded 10 in their first four League Two matches.

And having also let in five against Bristol Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday, Ainsworth has ordered his men to rediscover their miserly streak.

He said: “It’s the worst start we’ve had conceding goals. I want us back to the resolute, resilient Wycombe that are horrible to play against.”
