MILLS: THIS TIME WE’LL BE IN FIRST
JOHN MILLS scored a hat-trick as Hereford hammered Godalming Town 8-0 – then set his sights on the FA Cup first round proper.
Godalming’s first qualifying round prospects got off to a dreadful start when keeper Aaron Bufton was sent off after seven minutes for deliberate hand-ball outside the box.
Mills (above), who also had a penalty saved, hit a hat-trick and Pablo Hysham scored twice, with Mark Preece, Keyon Reffell, and Garyn Preen also netting.
Hereford were three up at the break with five in the last half-hour and Mills said: “There’s three more rounds left and you hope for a nice home draw again.
“The further you go, the more expectation there will be but hopefully we’ll get to the first round one of these days.”
Jordan Brown and Charley Samuel took inspiration from an FA Cup visit to fire Marlow into the second qualifying round.
The club, one of 15 teams who played in the first FA Cup in 1871-72, welcomed the famous trophy to their Alfred Davis Memorial Ground last week.
And Brown and Samuel struck in the second half to wrap up a 2-0 win over Beaconsfield Town to see the Evo-Stik League South East side progress.
