Black hole is a galaxy-first

A MID-sized black hole has been detected for the first time, near the middle of the Milky Way.

Scientists believed they existed and now one has been found 25,000 light years away by a team from Keio University, Japan.

Prof Tomoharu Oka said these smaller black holes may “merge to form a supermassive black hole”.

These are believed to be at the centre of most galaxies and fuel the creation of stars.
