WINNER LEWIS DONATES £150K

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

HOUSTON’S Stacy Lewis claimed divine guidance led her to a first win in three years, after pledging to donate her prize money to flood victims.

The former world No.1 won the Cambia Portland Classic by a shot, and gave £150,577 to the Houston Relief Fund, set up after Hurricane Harvey.

Lewis, 32, who moved to Houston with her family when she was 11, said: “We’ll be able to help people rebuild houses and get their homes back. That’s more important than any win.

“When I said I would donate my winnings, I had the goal of winning the tournament. You have to get a lot of things right, to go your way.

“I just kind of handed over control and said, ‘Take me, take me to the finish line. Let me know what happens, God’. It was just amazing.”
