Kinks singer’s divorce woes
SIR Ray Davies has revealed he nearly gave up music to be a painter after his first marriage broke up.
The Kinks legend, 73, said he wanted to quit after divorcing Rasa Didzpetris in 1973.
He told Radio Times magazine: “I sat in this room with my brother.
“I wanted to give up the whole idea and become a painter. I wish I’d done that.” The Sunny Afternoon and Waterloo Sunset singer said he thought, “Why me?” as he picked up his knighthood in March.
