Cross at Lidl picture edit

LIDL has been blasted after airbrushing the cross from the iconic Anastasis Church on packaging for its new Greek food range.

Irked shoppers included Steve West, who posted: “Is there somebody you think will take offence? There is. Me, Greeks, many others.”

Customers said that Halal meat products appear to use images featuring Islamic minarets.

Lidl UK said: “We are extremely sorry for any offence caused. This is not an intentional statement.”
