It’s time to scrap cap

UNDERPAID and overworked, overstretched nurses deserve a decent pay rise like millions of other cheated workers.

Today’s demonstration at Westminster must serve as a warning to Theresa May that NHS staff will no longer endure falling living standards imposed by the Prime Minister’s ideological obsession with a bankrupt austerity.

Hard-up skilled workers quitting in their droves is putting lives at risk. Low wages are a false economy when private agencies supplying emergency cover charge a fortune.

When the Tories have missed debt and borrowing targets they can no longer legitimately blame the deficit for its decision to reduce the value of pay packets year after year.

May is making the wrong choices on many fronts and that includes public pay. We demand she lifts the dangerous pay cap for all workers, not just a token few.
