PORNOGRAPHIC pictures were broadcast on a shopping centre’s information board this week, causing the council to call in police.

The X-rated images appeared on a digital podium near Telford Shopping Centre on Monday.

Council chiefs said they have launched an internal probe into how a hard-core website came to be broadcast and said all internet connectivity was cut to digital “totems” as soon as it was spotted.

West Mercia Police said: “We were made aware of an incident of malicious communication. Should this relate to criminal activity, an investigation will be undertaken.”

The signs usually advertise local events in Shropshire.
