Last salute to police dog
HIS head nuzzling the fur of his beloved police dog, an officer cradles the terminally ill animal on its final journey.
And dozens of colleagues gave Hunter a poignant salute as handler Michael D’Aresta took the German shepherd to be put down in Middletown, Connecticut, after he was diagnosed with liver cancer.
As the 10-year partnership of D’Aresta and his dog drew to an end, the force said: “Rest in peace, Hunter. You’ve done well.”
