FROOME CLOSING IN ON DOUBLE-RACE TRIUMPH
Heavyweight king AJ set to break more records against Pulev at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium
CHRIS FROOME took a huge step towards his Tour de France-La Vuelta double with an emphatic time-trial win in Spain.
Carrying a 61-second advantage into the 25-mile solo ride, Froome (above) romped home by almost half a minute for his second stage win of the race.
And his overall lead in the general classification extended to 1min 58sec.
His Team Sky boss Sir Dave Brailsford said: “He showed why he is one of the best time triallists.”
