Hard-up workers skipping meals to save money
ONE in eight workers are missing meals to make ends meet, The TUC reveals today.
It discovered alarming evidence of how a decade of austerity has hit millions.
A poll of 3,287 working adults found 44% worry about meeting basic household expenses, one in six save by leaving heating off with the same number pawning something in the last year.
One in four couldn’t pay an unexpected £500 bill.
Frances O’Grady, TUC general secretary, said: “When you come home you shouldn’t worry whether you can afford to eat.”
