Pupils in the ‘wrong trousers’

-

PUPILS were lined up in the rain while teachers checked they had the right £15.99 uniform trousers.

Parents were furious after children were sent home or put in isolation for wearing £7 Tesco trousers.

Kepier School in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, had warned that trousers must be from their uniform supplier, Total Sport.

But angry parents blasted their children’s treatment as “like prison”. Donna Morris’s son Aaron, 14, had the wrong trousers and was sent home. She said: “It’s disgraceful.” Deb Pearson, whose daughter was put in isolation, said: “The whole thing is ridiculous – it’s like the children are in a prison. “They were checking for tags, which is a disgrace.” But head Nicola Cooper defended the move, saying: “We are very proud of our uniform and learners look extremely smart.”
