CRUSSIA: COULD ALEXIS, MESSI, RONALDO AND BALE MISS OUT

-

NOW the dust has settled on another round of World Cup qualifiers, it is becoming clear that, when the tournament kicks off in Moscow on June 15 next year, some big names may be missing. Those countries and star names include: CHILE: Fifth in their group, outside qualification places with Ecuador and Brazil to come. Alexis Sanchez and his teammates are in trouble. ARGENTINA: Lionel Messi (left), Sergio Aguero and co are fifth in the South American standings with two games left and the top four qualify automatically. Fifth place means a two-leg play-off against New Zealand. ITALY: Gianluigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci and the rest are second in Group G and three points off accomplished Spain, with a vastly inferior goal difference. HOLLAND: They are still alive, but they currently sit third behind France and Sweden. Arjen Robben continues to inspire, but it will go right to the wire. WALES: Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Hal Robson-Kanu have inspired them into a play-off place. Now they must hope they can maintain their resurgence. PORTUGAL: Three points behind leaders Switzerland in Group B, with an inferior goal difference. Cristiano Ronaldo and the holders also look set for the play-offs. GHANA: Cameroon are out and the Black Stars are in danger of joining them. Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and West Ham’s Andre Ayew are third in their group, four points off leaders Egypt and two behind second-placed Uganda.
