ALEXIS SANCHEZ has been branded “fat” by one of his former coaches.
The unhappy Arsenal striker has been away on World Cup duty with Chile after the collapse of his proposed £60million move to Manchester City.
Sanchez is doubtful for the Gunners home game against Bournemouth on Saturday. He may be left out to work on his fitness after being savaged over his condition while playing for Chile.
Jose Sulantay, Chile’s former Under-20 and Under-17 boss, said: “I saw him gone. I saw him out of
physical shape, totally. He’s fatter than normal.”
Sanchez’s team lost to Paraguay and Bolivia, which puts their World Cup hopes in jeopardy.
It piled the pressure on the Arsenal star, who saw his deadline day switch to City fall through.
Sulantay added: “Without his spark, he never left that Paraguayan defence behind. He never made a diagonal run.
“It was not Alexis. This can bring you problems later – the statements of wanting to leave.”
City are ready to return for Sanchez in the January window with a cut-price £20m offer.
Kylian Mbappe (above) considered joining Arsenal before his £166m move to Paris Saint-Germain. He said: “Yes, I met with Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach.
“He has a great reputation here in France and knows how to develop young players. This was a real option. But, of course, PSG was the main one.”
