George is Dr Dambusters
THE last remaining airman of the Dambusters raid has been awarded an honorary doctorate.
George Johnson, 95, was given a standing ovation at the University of Lincoln.
The veteran, of Bristol, taught people with learning difficulties after leaving the RAF. Mr Johnson said: “I am the lucky one, I am still alive.”
SIXTY people were evacuated after a digger found a wartime “bomb”, but it was just a fuel tank in Peacehaven, East Sussex.
