Jemima’s gift

-

THE gift of eight lives is an enduring tribute to schoolgirl Jemima Layzell and her remarkable family.

To give five children and three adults she’d never met the chance of a long and healthy life is both humbling and inspiring.

So we applaud mum Sophy, dad Harvey and sister Amelia who, in their grief over the loss of Jemima at the age of 13, recognised in the tragedy that they were able to help others.

Donating the teenager’s heart, small bowel, pancreas, kidneys, liver and lungs to eight people is a record they should be proud of.

We hope it brings them some comfort. For the rest of us it is an example to follow.
