The boy, who cannot be named, took the double-barrelled shotgun, used for clay-pigeon shooting, and 200 cartridges from his father’s locked cabinet.
He concealed the weapon in his
trousers at 1,230-pupil Higham Lane School, in Nuneaton, Warks.
But as the teen was preparing to carry out his atrocity in June, he dialled 999 and told a call-handler about his “white-hot anger”.
The lad pleaded guilty at Warwick Justice Centre to possessing the shotgun and the cartridges with intent to endanger life. Judge Andrew Lockhart QC told the youngster: “It is plain this event was outside the character that you have exhibited for your whole life.” Superintendent Andy Nolan said after the hearing: “The call handler immediately understood the severity of the situation.”
