Groom girl slams victims

A WOMAN who trafficked girls to a paedophile gang exposed by a supergrass said she had no sympathy for the youngsters because they drank.

Carolann “Chucky” Gallon brought girls as young as 13 to the Newcastle abuse ring who gave them drink and drugs then preyed on them.

But she told police who arrested her that the victims had only themselves to blame, saying: “It’s self-inflicted, I’ve got no sympathy,” a court heard

John Elvidge QC, prosecuting, told how Gallon said: “They shouldn’t have too much to drink. If they’re mortal [drunk] they’re going to do something – why get mortal in the first place?”

Gallon, 22, wept as she was jailed for six years and three months at Newcastle crown court yesterday after admitting trafficking for sexual exploitation. Over three years, 17 men preyed on as many as 108 young victims in Newcastle.

Neighbours said they had seen men coming and going at Gallon’s first-floor council flat “at all times of day and night” over the past few months while she was on bail, as well as girls “aged 15 to 18”. One said: “Every time I went out I’d see two gentlemen through her window.”

But Gallon’s dad Jimmy, 63, claimed she herself was a victim too. He added: “Asian men were giving her booze for parties. She started inviting lasses she knew. She’s as much a victim as them.”

Gallon and 16 men have so far been jailed for their part in the horror.

Earlier this week Jahangir Zaman, 45, got 29 years and Mohammed Azram, 35, got 12-and-a-half years. One more man is to be sentenced next week.
