EBAYING FOR BLOOD

Burnley boss Dyche says Palace gaffer De Boer is a victim of ‘Ebay generation’ who have no patience

- BY MIKE WHALLEY

SEAN DYCHE believes that Frank de Boer is getting unfair flak because of what he calls the ‘ Ebay generation’.

Crystal Palace boss De Boer (right, with his chairman Steve Parish) insisted yesterday that his job is not on the line despite three defeats in his first three games, but bookies make him odds-on favourite for the sack race.

His Burnley counterpart Dyche is set to celebrate five years at Turf Moor next month – having benefited from the stability that the Palace manager is missing out on.

Dyche, whose side face struggling Palace at home tomorrow, says it is all part of the pressure that comes from a society that wants everything instantly.

He said: “We all want everything yesterday. We’re all guilty of it. Your kids are on the internet, on Ebay, saying, ‘Can I have this? Can I have that? Can it be delivered tomorrow?’

“You can pay more to have it delivered tomorrow. Everyone wants instant success. And in football, let’s not be naive, we are in that business. You need the points on the board as quickly as you can.

“The willingness to build over time is diminishing. And I’m not just on about owners here. “Owners get a bit of stick in football but often it’s their fans who are demanding that everything changes very, very quickly. “Now the secret probably is to win enough to allow yourself a chance to build. “It was Howard Wilkinson who said, ‘Win, survive, succeed.’ “You’ve got to win first. Winning allows you to survive. While you’re surviving, you can succeed in the sense of starting to build something.”
