FA FEAR DELE BAN COULD RULE HIM OUT OF WORLD CUP OPENER
THE FA are weighing up an appeal after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Dele Alli.
England star Alli is facing a potential three-game ban, that would rule him out of the opening game of next summer’s World Cup, after his middle finger gesture against Slovakia.
Alli and Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate insisted he was aiming it at former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker as a joke, rather than referee Clement Turpin, as was initially suggested. But FIFA have still begun an investigation after reviewing the referee’s report. The FA are considering whether to accept the FIFA decision and hope Alli gets off lightly, but are also mindful that an appeal could lead to a bigger punishment. They have until September 13 to submit their response.
