THREE LIONS CALLS PERFECT FOR PELL
MAURICIO PELLEGRINO says Southampton can reap the rewards of having so many players fighting for a place in England’s World Cup squad.
Left-back Ryan Bertrand (right) scored his first international goal during last week’s win in Malta, while Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse are also in manager Gareth Southgate’s plans.
Saints boss Pellegrino, whose side face Watford today, said: “The World Cup is a big target for my players. They are fighting to be there.
“We have a lot of good British players. All of them can be there in the World Cup. That is good for us.
“Ryan scored a good goal for England and hopefully he can do the same for us.” But one Saints player overlooked by Southgate was keeper Fraser Forster.
Pellegrino added: “Fraser is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. He will come back.”
