Hillsborough 96 tribute with Freedom of Wirral & garden
Aspinall, chair of The Hillsborough Family Support Group, said: “It is so important the 96 and the lessons of that terrible day are never forgotten. The freedom of the borough and garden will provide a lasting reminder.” Twelve of the dead were from Wirral and Ellesmere Port. Council leader Phil Davies said: “The gardens will be dedicated to the memory of the 96 who went to a football match and never came home.” THE 96 victims of the Hillsborough Stadium disaster will be honoured this week with the Freedom of Wirral.
New gardens at Wallasey Town Hall overlooking the River Mersey will also be a permanent memorial to those who died in the 1989 horror.
